The Foundation
Madina Hotel opened at the threshold of the Charminar in the year of independence. What began as a modest dining hall became a fixture of the Old City’s daily life.

1956
Madina is widely credited with bringing haleem — until then largely a dish of palace kitchens and private gatherings — onto an everyday commercial menu in Hyderabad.
To eat at Madina is not simply to have a meal; it is to sit inside the history of Hyderabad itself.
Prepared the way they have been for seven decades — slow, unhurried, and without shortcuts.
Iconic
Goat meat marinated and sealed with long-grain basmati, then cooked slowly over coal so the rice takes on the spice without losing its grain.
Our most ordered dish
Heritage
Wheat, lentils and mutton pounded together and slow-cooked for hours until smooth, finished with ghee, fried onion and lime.
Every day of the year, 2 PM – 9 PM
Pathergatti Classic
Strong, milky, slow-brewed tea in the Pathergatti style — the cup a great many of our regulars come in for on its own.
Served all day
Short films from the kitchen and the tables — shot on Pathergatti Road, posted to Instagram, and kept here so you can watch them without leaving.
The questions visitors ask us most before making the trip into the Old City.
We are open every day from 12 noon to 1 AM, including weekends and public holidays. Ramadan timings differ.
Parking on Pathergatti Road is extremely limited — the lanes around the Charminar are narrow and busy through most of the day. Most visitors park at the designated lots near the Charminar and walk the short distance, or arrive by auto-rickshaw, which is by far the easiest option.
We are in the Madina Building on Pathergatti Road, in Ghansi Bazaar — about 800 metres north of the Charminar, a ten-minute walk, in Hyderabad’s Old City. Full directions and landmarks.
All our meat is halal and the certification is displayed on the premises. There is also a full vegetarian selection — veg biryani, paneer curries, dal and more — so a mixed group can eat here comfortably. See the menu.
We do takeaway and delivery, including no-contact delivery, and we are listed on Zomato. We also cater events and have a private dining room.
We accept cash, credit and debit cards, Google Pay and other UPI apps, and contactless (NFC) payments. More in the FAQs.
